A Quick Tip to Increase Your SMO (Social Marketing Optimization):
For those of you who spend the required time to have a strong social media presence should not forget to add your sites to your email signature. By adding them, you are directing the individuals you are marketing through email to your social networking sites. This can prove to be a powerful marketing tool.
You do not want to clutter your signature by all of the sites if you are on many of the social platforms available; it would be better to place a maximum of five icons that will connect you to your target audience.
Although hyperlinks are good, icons are better. People tend to be more visual and according to several studies people will click on the icons they recognize.
An example of how to place them in your signature is diagrammed below:
Microsoft Outlook (see highlighted areas):
Click on “Options” under “File” tab.
Click on the signature you want to edit, or create a new one:
Insert icons as images and then add hyperlinks to each one.
Note: You will need to format each icon prior to inserting it into the email signature so that it is small enough to fit. I used 40 x 40 pixels in this example.
